Characteristics of Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay
Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay is a barrel-aged, single-variety Sauvignon Blanc white wine made by the Carrick winery in South Island (New Zealand).
Located in Bannockburn (Central Otago) since 1994, in one of the best known wine regions in New Zealand, Barbara and Steve Green began their journey full of theoretical knowledge. They have spent the time since then refining and improving their wines, and now this is a winery whose wines faithfully reflect their origins. The name Carrick comes from the gold mining city that used to lie in the area.
The Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay vineyards surround the winery. Carefully managed, they are cultivated under the premises of sustainable viticulture and are organically certified. The many hours of sunlight and the cold nights of the continental summit are perfect for foreign varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
When the Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay grapes are harvested they are taken to the winery to be vinified. First they are selected, destemmed and pressed and then the resulting must is fermented in mainly old oak barrels at a controlled temperature.
Made in one of the best known wine regions in New Zealand, Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay is a single-variety white that reveals the intensity, balance and minerality that the most southern Chardonnay variety can offer.
