Can Ràfols dels Caus El Rocallís is a white wine produced in Penedès by Can Ràfols dels Caus in Avinvonet del Penedès, Barcelona.
Can Ràfols is one of Garraf´s symbolic wineries in Penedès. Managed by Carlos Esteva, in 1979 he decided to renovate the old family plantation and started to plant a vineyard in its surroundings. Nowadays, he has 55 hectares of planted and cultivated, eco-friendly land.
El Rocallís is a vineyard of less than a hectare. It was planted in 1982 with the Xarel·lo variety, on limestone soils with seashells.
Can Ràfols dels Caus El Rocallís ferments for 32 days in stainless steel tanks and ages in French oak barrels.
Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! Can Ràfols dels Caus is Carlos Esteva, one of the few winemakers who live on the farm and strive to achieve their objectives, respecting the characteristics of the landscape and the architecture of the place in a sustainable framework. Harvest after harvest, in Can Ràfols dels Caus they experiment with different wines and varieties with the aim of making wines with a good ageing capacity, but fine, natural, elegant and with personality, which simultaneously show the fruit, the soil and the personality of the producer.
