Campillo Reserva Especial is a red wine from the D.O.C. La Rioja produced by the Campillo winery. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (85%) and Graciano (10%) grapes, to which a small amount of other varieties is added.
The grapes used for Campillo Reserva Especial come from two different estates: Villa Lucía and Larraz. These are situated 650 metres above sea level and enjoy a climate that is ideal for growing grapes, especially during the growing season.
The harvest is carried out manually, using boxes with a 15kg capacity to ensure that the grapes do not break and maintain their qualities. At the winery, the grapes pass through a selection table, where they are thoroughly checked for their quality. The chosen grapes are then incubated in 10,000kg capacity tanks, where the first fermentation takes place followed by a maceration which lasts for about 2 weeks.
Campillo Reserva Especial then ages in French oak barrels from Allier for 23 months before finally resting in the bottle.
Campillo is a winery located in the historic town of Laguardia, which has a strong heritage in wine. The Campillo building, made of natural stone, is an architectural work that is impossible miss when enjoying the views of the vineyards.
