Characteristics of Botani Garnacha
This is the first harvest of Botani Garnacha, the first varietal red wine made of Garnacha within the D.O. Sierras de Málaga.
It is made of grapes from vineyards aged of 25 years on average grown in the village of Ronda at 700 m altitude, with organic farming methods. The winery has already applied for the organic farming label. Vineyards are located in a continental area, with high day-night temperature differences, very cold winters and very warm summers. Sandy soil made of clay and slime. Grapes are manually harvested at mid September in 10-15 kg cases. Once in the winery, they go through a selection table. It goes through a malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and is aged for 6 months in 500-600 l French oak barrels.
This wine is made by the oenologists Jose Luis Chueca (Bodegas Alto Moncayo) and Alistair Gardner.

Nice smoked and spicy background.TasteThis wine shows a fresh and bulky attack and a mid palate marked by its huge load of fruit and its good acidity which provides it with persistence. Medium finish with suggestive sweet and mineral notes and a marked persistence. Very pleasant.
There was a time whereMálaga was a region of real prestige, their wines were consumed in European Courts, enjoyed across the European and American markets, more famous than the wines from Jerez at its peak. Authentic Málaga wines are one of the true treasures of fortified wines, deep, sweet, profound, mysterious in their translucent darkness, which even now are some of the world’s leading wines, from their whites, known for their dryness, up to their Pajarete wines, which easily reach an alcoholic content of around 20%.

With the 2004 vintage, were born the first wines from this winery, located at the end of Almáchar, in the heart of the Axarquia Malaga, a mountainous region of steep slopes and slate soils, along the Mediterranean. This is one of the oldest in Europe vitinícolas. It is the first winery established in this locality, as the traditional destination of these grapes was the production of raisins. Perhaps the newest part of this proposal was trusting the oenological winemaking in the Austrian winemaker Alois Kracher, who was undisputed number one sweet wines in the country.
