Characteristics of Bernabé Navarro Acequión
Bernabé Navarro Acequión is a sparkling wine produced by the Bernabé Navarro winery. This sparkling wine is made exclusively with the Moscatel de Alejandría variety.
The grapes used to produce Bernabé Navarro Acequión from on the El Acequión vineyard which is situated in the Mata Natural Park, where the water is left in salt pans (or salterns) so it solidifies. The vineyards are cultivated on sandy soils of natural origin, characterised by the fact that the vines manage to survive and avoid the phylloxera outbreak.
The vines are cultivated with the maximum respect for the natural and vegetative cycles, with the intention of having as little human intervention as possible. The winemaking and vinification process is also carried out in a natural manner.
Fermentation is carried out in clay amphorae, and are bottled before fermentation has finished, which creates carbon which integrates naturally in the bottle.
Bernabe Navarro Acequión undergoes fermentation with the skins, which gives the wine a certain structure in the mouth. This sparkling wine is ideal as an aperitif, but also together with food.
There is no doubt that the Monastrell grape variety has become a fashionable grape variety. This region is home to over half a dozen cooperatives, which have been at the forefront of a wine revolution, making wines that are respectful to the local culture the area, cultivating vines with care, selecting only the best fruit and producing wines that faithfully express character of the terroir. These wines are easy to identify, due to the fact the estate or vineyard from which they came from is usually printed on their label. Also, their authenticity and quality can be guaranteed by the DO Alicante, which not only certifies the farms, but also everything posted on the wines labeling.
