Characteristics of Bera Vittorio Arcese
Bera Vittorio Arcese is a natural white wine made from Cortese, Sauvignon Blanc, Favorita, Vermentino and Arneis and produced by Bera Vittorio e Figli, from Piedmont.
Bera Vittorio e Figli is a winery in Canelli, a municipality in the province of Asti, with a tradition that goes back to the 18th century. It has cultivated its 12 hectares of vineyards organically since 1964, with minimal human intervention, to respect their biodiversity and natural balance. The winery does not use commercial yeasts, oenological products, or chemical treatments to make its wines. The goal is for the grape and the terroir to be expressed in the most natural way possible.
The vineyards for Bera Vittorio Arcese cover an area of 1.3 hectares and their soils originated from the rupture of calcareous marls of marine sedimentation. They are trained in Guyot style on a traditional trellis. The plants have an average age of 20 years, produce around 50 hectolitres per hectare and are harvested manually. The varieties are mixed in the plots, so the coupage comes already made from the field.
Once in the winery, the Bera Vittorio Arcese harvest is completely destemmed and pressed. Next, it is vatted in steel tanks and undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation spontaneously. The wine is then aged on fine lees for 9 months and finally bottled without clarifying or filtering. It is bottled with a little residual sugar, which causes a small refermentation in the bottle and a little CO2 that keeps it fresh and protected.
Bera Vittorio Arcese is a floral white wine that is fruity, full-bodied, fresh and sustained by a pleasant residue of CO2.
