Characteristics of Barco del Corneta Cucú
Barco del Corneta Cucú is a white wine from the Castilla y León region produced by Barco del Corneta. It is made using only Verdejo grapes.
The grapes used for Barco del Corneta Cucú come from young vineyards located in the Paraje de Cantarranas, in La Seca (Valladolid). The soils from which the grapes grow are sandy, abundant boulders and at deeper levels composed of limestone and clay.
The vineyards are located at 700 metres above sea level and are cultivated organically. The area is home to a continental climate, with cold and dry winters.
At the winery, once the vinification process has been carried out, Barco del Corneta is partially aged in french oak barrels for 8 months. The rest of the wine sits in stainless steel tanks.
Barco del Corneta is a young winery founded by Beatriz Herranz Sanz in 2008. 9,000 bottles of this french and floral wine have been produced. A that has just been born, but is indeed very promising.
The D.O. Rueda is a denomination spanning across Castilla y León, along the River Duero and its tributaries. It is mainly white wines that are produced in this D.O., and Verdejo grapes are by far the most popular variety. With hints of flowers, fruit, scrub herbs and very fine aromas, these grapes give the wine a very strong personality.
