Bàrbara Forés El Templari is a red wine produced by the Bàrbara Forés winery in Gandesa (Tarragona), D.O. Terra Alta.

 

Bàrbara Forés is a family-run winery that dates back to the late 19th century, when Rafael Ferrer Forés started to make wine. The winery is now run by Carmen Ferrer and her husband, Manuel Sanmartín. In 2014, their daughter Pili Sanmartín Ferrer came on board at the winery, bringing a new perspective. 
 

Bàrbara Forés has 22 hectares of vineyard. This allows them to combine altitude and orientation, pains and hills, shade and sun. They cultivate using natural products and organic manure, and achieve a unique grape that is perfectly suited to the requirements and characteristics of the different estates.

 

The Bàrbara Forés El Templari wine is made with Morenillo from a single estate that has partly sandy soil but mostly a loamy texture. When the grapes have been manually harvested, they ferment in contact with the skins. Maceration lasts 21 days. After pressing, fermentation continues in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 9 months in clay amphoras.

Tasting notes Bàrbara Forés El Templari

Bàrbara Forés El Templari 2018 is a powerful, balanced and very sweet wine. It stands out for the aromas of ripe black fruit, notes of undergrowth and a very light roasted background. In the mouth, it is voluminous, but surprisingly easy-to-drink for this kind of wine.
Sight Nice and intense ruby â??â??red colour. Bright and with an elegant tear. Nose The notes of ripe fruit stand out along with the (sweet and hot) spicy aromas on a good background of notes of wood and toasted, smoky and creamy hints. Taste Tasty and friendly wine, with a great balance between the notes of fruit and wood. The spices complement them, providing the wine with a very nice touch of sweet and hot flavours. Its excellent acidity freshens the wine. Long and persistent finish that leaves an elegant mineral aftertaste. A very enjoyable wine.

In 1994 a major reform was introduced in the cellar Barbara Fores, with the acquisition of new machinery and adapting the building to modern requirements, we pursued a philosophy of respect for tradition and the incorporation of new technology in the extent that both the one and the other contributing something to the wine. In the processing area, the small size of the tubs can deal separately with each of the varieties according to the vineyard of origin. In the breeding room, in barrels of French Allier oak, the wines are bred to be eaten later. Leveraging the structure of the old mills for the winery's cellar has been conditioned as an area for rest and barrel aging. Finally, at the age and sobriety of the stone has set up a tasting room and to the public.
