Characteristics of Augustus Xarel·lo
Augustus Xaral·lelo 2011 is a white wine from Penedès produced by the Augustus Forum winery.
The vineyards of the winery are located in the Pla del Mar, 3km from the Mediterranean Sea, in the municipality of El Vendrell (Tarragona). The name of the winery comes from the remains in the vineyards of the Via Augusta, a great road to ancient Rome. In tribute to this, the winery has a clear Roman name.
Augustus Xaral·lo, as its name suggests, is a varietal Xarel.lo. The grapes come from old vines over 50 years old.
Wine is made directly from the flower must. Once the juice is extracted, one part of it is fermented in barrels and the other in steel tanks at a low temperature.
Once the blend is made, the wine is aged in tanks and on its lees for 3 months.
