Atalier Albariño is a barrel-aged white wine made by Raúl Pérez in the D.O. Rías Baixas (Galicia) with the native Albariño variety.
Raúl Pérez, one of the architects of new-generation viticulture in Spain, runs various projects in different wine-growing areas with a common theme: high quality grapes. He has made wines in Bierzo, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei, Madrid and even outside Spain in Portugal and South Africa.
The Atalier Albariño project was set up by Raúl Pérez in collaboration with his friend and colleague Rodrigo Méndez in the Val do Salnés, Rías Baixas (Galicia). These are 70-year-old vines planted in granite soils which, together with an Atlantic climate, produce the sought-after freshness of the Albariño variety. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the Atalier Albariño grapes are gently pressed and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in different sized foudres for 12 months. This enhances the sensations of the wine, maintaining the variety’s characteristic freshness.
Atalier Albariño is a brilliant Albariño with body, freshness and salinity. A limited production wine from the acclaimed Rául Pérez that is not to be missed.
