Characteristics of Atalayas de Golbán
Atalayas de Golbán is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero region produced by the Dominio de Atauta winery. This wine is made using only Tinto Fino grapes.
The area is home to what is princaply a continental climate, with small mediterranean influences. The winters are therefore long, but high temperatures occur during the summer months.
The vines grow on sandy soils which contain boulders. The vineyards themselves are also north facing, which lessens the direct impact of the sun, which results in the grapes ripening at a slower rate.
The grapes used for Atalayas de Golbán come from vineyards are varying ages. The youngest vineyards are around 30 years old, while the older vines are about 100 years old. The agriculture techniques used on the vineyard are carried out in an ecological manner, using organic elements and ensuring the least possible damange to the environment.
At the winery, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks, followed by maceration, during which time several pump over occur. Atalayas de Golbán then ages for 12 months in french oak barrels. Before being able to be enjoyed, this wine is left in the bottle up until the optimal momento of consumption.
Dominio de Atauta is a renowned winery in the D.O Ribera del Duero region. The winery produces its own products from vineyards located more than 900 meters using biodynamic methods.
