Characteristics of Artadi Valdeginés
Artadi Valdeginés is a D.O.Ca Rioja red wine by Artadi. What started as a humble cooperative quickly became one of the most critically acclaimed wineries of the Rioja Alavesa. Its new, excellent "vinos parcelarios" (wines with grapes from a single plot of land, such as: El Carretil, La Poza de Ballesteros and Valdeginés) have convinced countless critics.
A single varietal Tempranillo. The grapes come from a 7-hectare vineyard with poor, clayey and limestone-rich soils.
The grapes are destemmed and cold macerated for 24-28 hours. Later, the must ferments at a controlled temperature for 10-12 days and later ages in French oak barrels for 14 months.

Bodegas Artadi was founded in Laguardia back in 1985 as the´Cooperative Cosecheros Alaveses’', led by Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle. It was an association of a group of growers that wanted to collaborate on a business project based on the viticultural wealth of the La Rioja Alavesa region. They wanted the opportunity to prove that the use of carbonic maceration could also produce great wines, and this they did. Artadi has a history linked to the memory and stories of the people who helped found the winery and make what it is today. Outside of the busy and overcrowded industry , Artadi is based on passion and respect for the land and vineyards.
