Characteristics of Artadi Joven
Artadi Joven is a red wine from Rioja produced by the Artadi winery. The winery is located in the town of Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa).
Artadi Joven is made primarily from Tempranillo (90%) and a small percentage of Viura (10%). The grapes come from vineyards planted at an altitude of between 450 and 700 metres on calcareous clay soils.
For the cultivation of the vineyard no herbicides or pesticides are used. An integrated viticulture is practiced.
The harvest is done manually in boxes of 200 kg. Vineyard yields average around 4000kg per hectare. For processing the wine is vinified in open tanks with whole bunches.

Bodegas Artadi was founded in Laguardia back in 1985 as the´Cooperative Cosecheros Alaveses’', led by Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle. It was an association of a group of growers that wanted to collaborate on a business project based on the viticultural wealth of the La Rioja Alavesa region. They wanted the opportunity to prove that the use of carbonic maceration could also produce great wines, and this they did. Artadi has a history linked to the memory and stories of the people who helped found the winery and make what it is today. Outside of the busy and overcrowded industry , Artadi is based on passion and respect for the land and vineyards.
