Characteristics of Vol d'Ànima de Raimat Blanc
Ànima de Raimat Blanco is a white wine produced by the Raimat winery in the Costers del Segre.
It is a blend of Chardonnay, Xarel·lo and Albariño varieties. The grapes come from the Raimat estate where sustainable viticulture, certified by the Catalan Council for Integrated Production, is practiced.
The climate is continental with Mediterranean influences, with large temperature contrasts during the ripening of the grapes, which helps achieve a higher concentration of aromas.
The harvest of each variety is done separately, fully respecting maturation times of each variety. It starts in early September and lasts until early October.
The grapes arrive at the winery at night, taking advantage of low temperatures to prevent oxidation of the grape.
The preparation begins with the pressing of the grapes, then the wort is cooled to 10 ° C to maintain static decanting flavours.
Each variety is fermented separately at a controlled temperature of 14 ° C for 2-3 weeks. Ànima de Raimat Blanco is a fresh, creamy, fruity white wine, with some touches of citrus.

When we refer to the DO Costers del Segre we think of wines with a continental character, which in some respects is true, but extensive replantation of international grape varieties means that the majority of wines produced here lack a geographical or territorial trademark, even though the vast majority of the wines are technologically perfect. However, there are currently wineries such as Mas Blanch i Jové, Costers del Sio, L’Olivera, Lagravera and Thomas Cusiné, among others, who concentrate their effors on producing wines with what are considered varieties native to the region. However, the majority of this region is still dominated by classic international varieties.
The winery Codorniu Raimat of the group is in Raimat within the DO Costers del Segre. The winery has an extensive vineyard of approximately 2245 ha. being an important ecological and wine research. The excellent climatic conditions as well as research conducted by them can result in wines of high quality. Several varieties are cultivated among which are: Macabeo, Xarel.lo, Parellada cardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, among others.
