Characteristics of Altino
Altino is a red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by the Óbalo winery. This wine is made using only Tempranillo grapes, the most common variety in the region.
The grapes used for this wine are taken from vines that are between 65-80 years old. After the best grapes have been selection and the harvest has been carried out, the grapes are transported to the winery in a fast but careful manner, avoiding breakage and premature fermentation.
The various winemaking processes are carried out using conventional methods, following the wineries years of experience and the regions large heritage in viticulture.
Before being placed onto the market, Altino is aged for a minimum of 8 months in French oak barrels, followed by briefly being aged in the bottle.
The Óbalo winery forms part of the Avanteselecta group, a company that produces around 2 million bottles of wine from accross the whole of Spain. Their aim is to not only provide their client with a wide selection of different wine varieties, but also wines of the highest quality.
La Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
