Alta Alella Puput is a sweet wine from D.O. Alella, produced by the winery Alta Alella in the municipality of Alella.
Alta Alella is a family project that was created more than twenty years ago by Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and his wife, Cristina Guillen.
At present, Alta Alella controls 50 hectares under production in D.O. Alella and D.O. Cava. They have strongly vouched for the recovery of the native varieties Pansa Blanca (Xarel.lo) and Mataró (Monastrell). They also experiment with resistant varieties that allow them to reduce the intervention in the vineyard and the winery.
Alta Alella Puput is part of a collection of wine of Celler de les Aus, a project, based on know-how and the experience that they have accumulated over the four decades they have dedicated to wine. This strengthens the Pujol-Busquets Guillén family’s approach to achieving quality, natural wines without using sulphur.
Alta Alella Puput is an organic sweet red wine made with Mataró (Monastrell) from vineyards planted on loamy-sandy soils at an altitude of 150 to 300 metres with southeast orientation.
The grapes are left to overripe on the vine and they are harvested before the raisining process starts. The grapes are fermented in French oak barrels where they are left to macerate for 7 months. After this, the wine is bottled after a slight pressing, with no added sulphites.
