Characteristics of Albet i Noya 3 Macabeus

For a 100% Macabeo, this wine is very special. This grape has never before shown as many outstanding aromas and flavours as it does in this wine.
It is probably something to do with the 42-year-old vines, with yields of 5500 kg/ha. But it's also thanks to the exceptional 2008 vintage, with huge changes in temperature between the hot days and the cool summer nights, resulting in an incredible slow ripening of the grape.

Tasting notes Albet i Noya 3 Macabeus

Sight Pale yellow colour with waxen borders. Very bright. Nose Intense aromas of white fruit with a hint of citrus and herbal notes. Subtle honeyed background. Taste Very fresh and with a broad attack. Unctuous and silky mid palate. Its aromas of ripe fruit have the perfect intensity. Adequate acidity. Medium finish, with a good persistence, with floral hints. An easy-drinking varietal wine.
Sight Bright, pale yellow with lime colors.
Nose The nose is intense and very fruity, aromatic notes clearly highlighting skin green fig and fresh asparagus, peach, mango and apricot end.
Taste In the mouth, fruity notes come out the same notes of fruit, especially persistent volume has an important and fine balance with acidity, which gives freshness, vivacity and length.
Sight Bright, pale yellow with Lime-themed colors.
Nose The nose is intense and very fruity, aromatic notes clearly highlighting skin green fig and fresh asparagus, peach, mango and apricot end.
Taste In the mouth come out again the same notes that fruit on the nose, especially persistent and lengthens the taste of green fig, but are also added touches of fresh tea and a tip end of pear.  It is large and has a fine balance with acidity, which gives freshness, vivacity and length.

Winery Albet i Noya

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.

Albet i Noya was, among other things, the first national winery to make organic wines. In 1978, Josep Maria Albet i Noya represented the Unió de Pagesos in the Regulatory Council of D.O. Penedès, when a Danish company addressed the D.O. looking for a producer of organic wine. At the time, there were no organic producers in the entire state, and the Council discussed the issue with Josep Maria, a strict vegetarian. From then and until this day, his wines are the paradigm of the strictest organic production and, undoubtedly, one of the most exciting innovations of Penedès. It has positioned itself on the market, with boutique wines made in a modern way, with a characteristic and personal Mediterranean style.
