Characteristics of Alanda Tinto

Alanda Tinto is an original Galician red wine produced by the Quinta da Muradella winery in Monterrei.

It is a small winery in the hands of José Luis Mateo, drawing on the knowledge of Raul Perez. Alanda Tinto is a blend with Bastardon as the protagonist, an almost forgotten native variety, along with other known varieties such as Mencia and Tinto Fino. The grapes come from two small farms cultivated according to organic and biodynamic agriculture. Alanda Tinto is aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels, and rests in the bottle until it reaches its optimum time for marketing. La Quinta da Muradella creates wines which are a true reflection of the vineyard, with very little intervention in the cellar. Alanda Tinto is a Galician wine with hints of burgundy. There has been a very limited production of only 2,600 bottles.

Tasting notes Alanda Tinto

Sight Intense dark cherry colour. Clean and bright. Dense tear. Nose Good aromatic intensity with ripe red fruit in the foreground. When it opens up, the minerals and toasted notes appear along with touches of vanilla, cocoa and outstanding aromas of licorice. Final hints of herbs. Taste This wine from Monterrei is fresh and tasty. It has soft and unctuous mid palate with a good intensity. The notes of fruit and spices are well balanced. Tannins are sweet. Good finish with great persistence and a fruity and floral aftertaste. Elegant, subtle, fresh and different wine to be enjoyed slowly.

Designation of Origin D.O. Monterrei

Winery Quinta da Muradella

The Monterrei Valley is often only considered for the cultivation of cereals, fruit trees and other horticultural products, but the Valley is today one of the most dynamic regions in terms of wine production. The transformation and improvement of viticulture and the installation of wineries such as Terra de Gargalo (owned by Roberto Verino), Pazos del Rey, Quinta do Muradella, Lobazán and Valdevellos, among others, have contributed to increased production of quality wines within designation of origin, which are becoming ever more present in the main Spanish markets.
