Characteristics of Acusp

Acusp is a great red wine made in the Costers del Segre by the Castell d'Encus winery.

Castell d'Encus is the personal project of Raul Bobet, who is known for developing one of the most popular wines in the Priorat, Ferrer Bobet.

Raul Bobet has a sincere philosophy, based on the maximum care of the vineyard, passion, utmost dedication and respect.

Acusp is a varietal Pinot Noir, from vineyards planted at 1000 metres in altitude. Castell d'Encus is the winery that produces wines at the highest altitude in Spain, surrounded by forest and with great sun exposure.

Vines are planted on ex-calcareous soils. Poor soils with a climate of many contrasts in temperature give a high quality grape.

The harvest is done manually and the grapes are moved in small boxes of 10 kg, which keeps the grapes in perfect condition.

Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels. Acusp is neither filtered nor stabilized, so some precipitates may appear.

A great red wine. Thin, soft, elegant. Spectacular. A great mountain wine. A wine of great altitude.

Tasting notes Acusp

Sight Ruby red colour with slight bluish hues. Medium layer, clean and very bright. Nose A subtle and seductive nose. Floral notes with red fruits like strawberries and raspberries, berries, pepper, cloves, violets, cocoa, toast and mineral notes. Taste The palate is elegant, soft, silky and fresh with great balance and a long, lingering finish. Red fruit, liquorice and aniseed with an aftertaste of herbs and balsamic.
Sight Red ruby colour with bluish reflections and steely edges. Clean and very bright wine with a medium robe. It shows elegant, thin tears. Nose Highly intense, suggestive and seductive nose. Its aromas of ripe red fruit and fragrant flowers dominate over the refined spicy notes, the light toasted nuances and the mineral hints. Very subtle and crispy aromatic set. Taste In the palate, this Spanish wine is elegant, delicate and very fresh. It has a marked varietal character and stands out for its harmony and balance. It is velvety and tasty. Long and persistent finish.

Winery Castell d'Encús

When we refer to the DO Costers del Segre we think of wines with a continental character, which in some respects is true, but extensive replantation of international grape varieties means that the majority of wines produced here lack a geographical or territorial trademark, even though the vast majority of the wines are technologically perfect. However, there are currently wineries such as Mas Blanch i Jové, Costers del Sio, L’Olivera, Lagravera and Thomas Cusiné, among others, who concentrate their effors on producing wines with what are considered varieties native to the region. However, the majority of this region is still dominated by classic international varieties.
