Characteristics of Abadía Retuerta Pago la Garduña
New vintage of this red wine made 100% from Syrah grapes in Castilla y León. The grapes come from vines planted on chalky soils in Pago la Garduña. After being destemmed, the grapes macerate for 25 days. The must ferments at a temperature of 28ºC to reach a malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels from Allier. Abadía Retuerta Pago la Garduña ages for a year and a half in French oak barrels from Allier.

SightDark piccota cherry colour with violet reflections. High robe, clean and bright.NoseHigh intensity expressing a perfect balance between ripe red fruit, floral touches and elegant toasted notes. Balsamic nuances, a slight spiciness and some lactic notes complement each other.TasteElegant, discrete and smooth entry onto the palate which rises in intensity and weight when swirled around the mouth, filling the mouth with almost jammy black fruits. Some sweet, silky, ripe, very well-integrated tannins and a strong and powerful acidity. Long finish, intense and very persistant. Fruity aftertaste with fine toasted notes in the retro-olfaction.
With an exceptional location in the "golden mile" of Ribera del Duero, next to the vineyards of Vega Sicilia, Abadía Retuerta, which is now part of the Novartis group, is not included in D.O. Ribera del Duero as it is just outside its limits, in the town of Sardón de Duero. This allows them to use varieties that are not admitted by the Regulatory Council of this denomination, and to produce wines of marked character, expressive, amiable, with their own style, modern and innovative, and with the unmistakable seal of Abadía Retuerta.
