Characteristics of 2 Pájaros
2 Pájaros is a red wine from Montsant produced by Celler de Capçanes.
This winery, founded in 1933, is the result of the union of several families from the village of Capçanes, localited in the Priorat (Tarragona). Celler Capçanes stands in the wine world for the uniqueness and variety of their wines. 2 Pájaros in this case is one of the most special expressions. 2 Birds is 100% made from Carignan variety.
The grapes come from old vines over 50 years old. These were planted on a terroir of licorella (slate soil), limestone and clay. 2 Pájaros begins with a manual harvest throughout the month of September. The grapes undergo fermentation at a controlled temperature of 24-28ºC with indigenous yeasts.
Then maceration takes place for 20 days in French oak barrels. After vinification, the wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The last step before bottling and marketing is resting for three months in vats.
The Penin Guide, a reference in the Spanish wine world, awarded the 2011 vintage of 2 Pájaros a score of 93/100.

The DO Montsant is situated in the province of Tarragona, surrounding the DOQ Priorat. Although a young Denominación de Origen, The DO Monstant is located in a land with a large history in winemaking. The wines, mostly reds, are typically made with Grenache and Carignan grapes and are authentic, wild and artisanal. Wines produced in this region are usually extremely good value given the high quality.
We can say that today Celler de Capçanes is an exemplary cooperative and a solid project. Vibrant and in constant progress, where they always advocate for research and development, carrying out different projects, especially with the Red Grenache variety. Their collection of wines Nits de Garnachas, clearly represent the soils where they are from and the emotions of those who work the land and produce the wine.
