Vino di Anna Palmento Bianco 2018 is a profiled white wine that offers pleasant floral notes of white flowers on the nose, accompanied by the aroma of lemons. On the palate it is fresh and delicate but with texture, a flavoursome aftertaste and a pleasant, subtle note of salt and mineral.

Vino di Anna Palmento Bianco is a white wine coupage of the Minella Bianca, Grecanico, Inzolia, Carricante, Grecanico Dorato and Catarratto varieties produced by the Vino di Anna winery in Sicily, Italy.

Anna Martens and Eric Narioo started making wines in 2008. Their young winery lies at the top of Mount Etna’s north face, in Sicily. They have around six hectares of vineyards that they cultivate according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. They have also decided to bury nine qvevri, large jars or clay pots traditionally used in Georgia, to vinify and age their wines.

The Vino di Anna Palmento Bianco is made with a blend of local native grapes from different vineyards lying at altitudes ranging from 760 to 1,200 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested manually during the month of September.

The Grecanico and Grecanico Dorato grapes macerate with their skins for a week. The remaining varieties are pressed in whole bunches and are placed directly in stainless steel tanks where they ferment spontaneously with their native yeasts and without temperature control. The two fermentations are united and the resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation followed by a five-month aging with its fine lees. The wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering and only a minimal amount of SO2 is added.

Anna Martens and Eric Narioo work their vineyards with minimal intervention and great care for nature to produce wines that are faithful to their origin and able to reflect the unique brilliance of their particular vineyards with volcanic soils.
