Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay is a wood-aged white wine made by Viña Ventisquero with the Chardonnay variety in the Casablanca Valley, Chile.
Viña Ventisquero is a Chilean winery in the Maipo Valley, one of the most prestigious wine-growing regions in the country. This is where winemaker, Felipe Tosso, has managed to extract the best expression of the greatly diverse local terroir. All of this work that has earned him international recognition with each of his wines that are consistent with a marked character.
Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay comes from plots mainly composed of clay loam soil. This wine region enjoys high temperatures and low rainfall, which is why the grapes ripen quickly and with a very good concentration. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the best grapes used to make Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay are meticulously selected. They are then gently pressed and the resulting must ferments in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 months on its lees and with gentle batonnages.
Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay is a white wine made by Felipe Tosso as a tribute to the place he works: the Casablanca Valley. This region has a relatively short winemaking history, but in less than 30 years it has managed to gain a foothold in the international wine scene.
