Saint Etienne La Garrigue is an organic, cement-aged red wine made with the garnacha tinta and syrah varieties by Domaine Saint Etienne in the French denomination AOC Côtes du Rhône, in the Rhône.

Working to the motto “Fac et spera” (do and wait), the Chapoutier family has become one of the most respected wineries in France. Located in Montfrin, halfway between Avignon and Nimes, Saint Etienne is an estate with an exceptional terroir. They have 25 hectares of ecologically certified vineyards that are traditionally vinified, respecting the expression of each terroir as much as possible.

Saint Etienne La Garrigue comes from vineyards located northeast of the Costières de Nîmes denomination. These vines are planted on soil with pebbles on the surface and red clay underneath. They have been cultivated using sustainable agriculture since 2010 and with organic certification since 2013. The harvest is carried out first thing in the morning so that the grapes reach the winery in the best condition and without oxidising.

In the winery, the Saint Etienne La Garrigue grapes are vinified by plot. They are firstly destemmed and then transferred to stainless steel tanks to begin spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts for about 6 weeks. Finally the wine ages for 7 to 10 months in cement tanks.

Saint Etienne La Garrigue comes from an exceptional terroir. A delicate and elegant red that is worthy of a world-renowned winemaking denomination.
