Polar Albariño 2020 is an aromatic white wine. Bright straw yellow colour with steel-coloured rims and golden reflections. The nose is very pronounced, with citrus aromas and hints of tropical fruit mingling with mineral touches and herbal and balsamic notes. The palate is refreshing, flavoursome and fresh. Unctuous and pleasant. Very expressive. Fresh fruit (apple, lime) appears. Bitter finish.
Polar Albariño is a white wine produced by Noelia de Paz in Salnés (Pontevedra), D.O. Rías Baixas.
After more than 10 years producing wines in the area of Valdevimbre, in 2015, Noelia de Paz started her most personal project, Vinos la Osa. This is a series of wines made with indigenous varieties of the region, like Prieto Picudo and Albarín. She searches for collaborations in other areas, like the one with Rodrigo Méndez in Rías Baixas and Raúl Pérez in El Bierzo.
Noelia de Paz produces her wines in the winery Leyenda del Páramo, acquiring most of the grapes from small winemakers of Valdevimbre. Noelia herself selects the best plots and carries out an exhaustive quality control of the grapes.
Noelia de Paz shows us another way of making great wines, without their own wineries and vineyards, working with passion and knowing very well what they have in mind.
The collaboration with Rodrigo Méndez results in Polar Albariño, a wine made from Albariño, from a vineyard located in Salnés, planted on sandy and granite soils, with an Atlantic climate with moderate temperatures all year round and high rainfall.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. Once they arrive at the winery, the grapes ferment in stainless steel deposits with controlled temperature. Part of them ferment in wooden foudres.
Polar Albariño is a tasty, expressive and fresh wine. It has a marked varietal character, with tropical fruit, citrus and quite mineral. Unctuous and very pleasant.
