Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas

Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas is an organic white wine made by Proyecto Zorzal with the Viura variety in the D.O. Navarra (Spain).

 

Proyecto Zorzal was set up in 1989 through a passion for wine that Antonio Sanz passed on to his three children. In this winery, the Sanz brothers aim to reflect the maximum expression of their vineyards and showcase these characteristics in their wines made in the D.O. Navarra and DOCa Rioja. Now, together with prestigious Argentine winemaker Matías Michelini, they have created a new range of single-plot wines that perfectly interpret Navarra’s historic landscape.

 

Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas comes from a vineyard located in the Alegas Altas area, in Cintruénigo, Navarra. These vines have an average age of 35 years old and are planted in clay and limestone soils at an altitude of almost 500 metres above sea level. They are organically cultivated without using chemical products, to create wines that are an honesty reflection of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness. 

 

In the winery, the Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must spontaneously ferments with native yeasts. The wine then ages on lees in 700-litre concrete eggs and in single-use 500-litre oak barrels for 12 months.  

 

Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas is the result of a collaboration between Viña Zorzal Wines and Matías Michelini and the experience they both bring. A single-plot wine that opens the doors to great small productions from a unique vineyard in Navarra.
