Pampaneo Tempranillo Natural is a red wine without denomination of origin produced by Esencia Rural in Quero, Toledo.

Julián Ruiz Villanueva, raised by his father, a livestock breeder, and his mother, a farmer, left his hard country life when he was very young to go and study in Madrid. Years later, and Graduated in Social Studies, he returned to start his career in organic agriculture in an area where they were not familiar with these beliefs.

After planting organic melons and peppers, in 1998 he decided to try with organic wines. With 50 hectares of vines, most of them very old and even pre-phylloxera, he advocated for local varieties, Airén and Tinto Velasco, complemented with Tempranillo and Syrah. The philosophy of Esencia Rural is to make wines with minimum intervention, leaving the terroir and the variety to express themselves naturally, without filters or restraints.

Pampaneo Tempranillo Natural is a wine made with Tempranillo from the winery’s own vineyards, cultivated biodynamically with maximum respect for the environment, with no added chemical products, and planted on sandy-calcareous soils.

After the manual harvest, the grapes are fully destemmed and subjected to a 2-month maceration in stainless steel tanks, fermenting with native yeasts. The malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. After pressing, the ageing takes place in clay jars.
