Characteristics La Tellería
La Tellería is a single-variety Mencía red wine made by the Vinos Valtuille family winery in the D.O. Bierzo, in Castilla y León, Spain.
The grapes used to make the La Tellería wine mostly come from a plot with the same name that is located on a hillside near Valtuille de Abajo. It has clay soils and vines aged over 85 years old.
The harvest is carried out manually in 15kg boxes. The bunches pass over a selection table where those that do not meet the winery’s quality standards are discarded.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with constant controlled temperatures of no more than 28ºC.
The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then undergoes a short aging of 4 to 5 months in a 10,000 litre wooden foudre.
La Tellería is a fresh and fruity red wine that offers the full essence of the Mencía variety from old vines accompanied by the character of the Bierzo land and the perfect balance between fruit and structure.
