Marqués de Riscal Limousin is a white wine from Rueda produced by Marqués de Riscal, an extension of his project 'Bodegas Marques de Riscal' in Rioja. In 1970 he decided to produce white wines and chose the DO Rueda for it.
The climate in this area is Mediterranean but with some continental influences. There is a great difference between the day and night temperatures. Winters are cold and very long, there are short springs with late frosts and hot, dry summers, with some occasional storms. This wine is a varietal Verdejo from 205 hectares of old vines pruned in glass trellises and located on the upper terraces of the Douro River. As for the design, harvest is done manually in boxes of 15 Kg. The whole grape is pressed, without destemming it, thus limiting the maximum oxidation of must and retaining all the aromas, colour and freshness of the variety. Once the must is obtained, it passes through a slight clarification. Fermentation takes place in French Allier oak barrels of 600 litres, subsequently aging on lees for 6-7 months.
In the mouth it is nice and creamy with a very good acidity. Memories of nuts and creamy notes of fine woods.
Pale golden colour with green hues. Clean and bright.
Talking about Marqués de Riscal means talking about prestige, innovation, non-conformism and quality, values that have been shown since 1858, when this winery was founded.
We are in front of the oldest wineries within the D.O. Rioja, essential in the birth of the D.O. Rueda and with no doubt, one of the most daring and pioneering wineries due to its way of understanding the wine industry.
