Les Foulards Rouges”, (the red scarves in French) is a novel with all the ingredients of the swashbuckling genre put together in a modernised version. Its author, Fréderic Fajardie, is known as the Alexander Dumas of the 21st century, and his work is free from any tricks or frills. And that is where his strength lies. This is what inspired winemaker Jean-François Nicq and his childhood friend Bijan Mohamadi to embark on their own winemaking project in the Eastern Pyrenees using the name of this novel and following a philosophy of minimal intervention. Adventure awaits...

La Soif du Mal Rouge is a natural red wine made with Garnacha Tinta in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, on an estate in Montesquieu-les-Albères, touching the border with Spain and lying just 10 km from the sea. With a total area of 15 hectares of vineyards, the soil is mainly granite sand with gneiss and the vines are cultivated according to organic principles, limiting yields and with the help of “Uma”, a young mule who pulls things along.

In the winery, no external oenological products are used that could affect the authenticity of the fruit. The La Soif du Mal Rouge grapes are pressed without destemming and they undergo a carbonic maceration for 3 weeks. Finally, the wine rests on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for 7 months.

The result of this process is La Soif du Mal Rouge. A natural red wine, with no tricks or frills that invites you to easily and naturally enjoy the world of instant pleasure.
