Characteristics Eric Texier Chat Fou
Eric Texier Chat Fou is a naturalred wine that is a coupage of Grenache Tinta, Clairette and Marsanne. It is produced by Eric Texier and belongs to the AOC Côtes du Rhône.
Eric Texier is a vigneron located in Brézème, a municipality in the northern area of the Rhone Valley. Texier worked in nuclear engineering but switched to the world of wine in the early 1990s. He practices minimal viticulture and oenology, and attaches special importance to the management of the soils of his vineyards.
The vineyards for Eric Texier Chat Fou were planted between 1968 and 1978. They are planted on clay, limestone, quartz and granitic rocks. They produce around 30 hectolitres per hectare. They are cultivated biodynamically.
The bunches of Grenache for Eric Texier Chat Fou are vatted whole, without destemming, and macerate for around 7-8 days. Those of the white varieties are pressed when arriving in the winery and the must ferments after being cleaned by decantation. Once the fermentations are finished, the wines rest for about 8 months in cement tanks before the coupage is performed.
Eric Texier Chat Fou is a fresh and fruity wine with mineral touches.
