Characteristics El Corazón de la Tierra
El Corazón de la Tierra is a red wine produced by the winery Virgen de la Asunción in La Horra, D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Thewinery Virgen de la Asunción is a cooperative comprised of more than 100 winegrowing families. It was founded in 1957 in La Horra and it is one of the leading cooperatives in Ribera del Duero.
They own 325 hectares of vineyards located in the Golden Triangle (Roa-La Horra-Sotillo), at altitudes that range between 800 and 850 metres. Half of the vines are over 50 years old, and some of them are even a century old.
El Corazón de la Tierra is a wine produced with 100% Tinto Fino from vineyards that are 50-90 years old, with a yield of 0.5 Kg per vine. Harvest is performed by hand. Grapes ferment in stainless steel deposits and aged for 14 months in 500-litre French oak barrels. They undergo daily batonnages the first 5 months.
El Corazón de la Tierra is an intense, full-bodied wine, with slight freshness. Ripe black fruit is mixed with the toasted spicy notes of ageing, with a hint of minerality.
