Dos Lusíadas Pinteivera Blanco is a barrel-fermented white wine produced by Dos Lusíadas with the Rabigato, Gouveio and Códiga varieties in the DOC Douro, in Portugal.
Dos Lusíadas is run by Michel Chapoutier in the Alto Duero region, in Portugal. This winery, like the rest of the initiatives he runs in different parts of the world, aims to capture the maximum expression of the terroir. This is careful and professional work that has earned him recognition in both his native country, France, and in Portugal.
Dos Lusíadas Pinteivera Blanco comes from old vines aged between 60 and 80 years old, planted on slopes with granite sands of variable depth. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture with biodynamic treatments and respecting the natural cycle of the strain. The grapes are manually harvested and placed in 20 kg boxes.
Once the Dos Lusíadas Pinteivera Blanco grapes have reached the winery, they are pressed in whole bunches and vinified in small closed tanks for 4 to 5 weeks. The wine then ages on lees in new oak barrels for 12 months.
Dos Lusíadas Pinteivera Blanco is a blend of native varieties from Alto Duero with the Michel Chapoutier quality seal. A viticulturist who, not satisfied with just the great diversity of terroirs he cultivates in the Rhône, crossed the border to discover the richness of the Douro Valley.
