Dominó Monte Pratas is a natural, ecological and vegan, barrel-aged white wine made with the Alicante, Fernao Pires, Tamarez, Arinto and Pérola varieties in Alentejo (Portugal) by Dominó.

Dominó was set up by Vitor Claro and his wife Rita Ferreira in 2016 in the Portuguese region of Alentejo. It all started when Vitor started working as a chef in a restaurant of prestigious winemaker Dirk Niepoort and discovered his great passion for wines. So much so that in a short time he left the world of catering to focus entirely on viticulture.

Dominó Monte Pratas comes from old local vines in the Reguengos sub-region (Alto Alentejo). These are vines planted at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level and on light clay and granite soils. They are cultivated using organic agriculture with no chemical products and the harvest is carried out manually with the grapes selected in the vineyard itself.

Once the Dominó Monte Pratas grapes reach the winery, they are pressed whole and the resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts. It then spends 12 months in used oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

Something a bit different from the classic wines that have been produced in recent times in Antelejo using international varieties, Dominó Monte Pratas is a quest to showcase the authenticity of the place through local varieties and minimal intervention.
