Characteristics Domaine Ganevat Pinot En Billat

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Domaine Ganevat Pinot En Billat is a Pinot Noir variety red wine made by Domaine Ganevat, in the AOC Côtes de JuraFrance.

The Domaine Ganevat Pinot En Billat wine is made from clusters that come from plots with soils made up of schists and marls, and the harvest is carried out manually. The must ferments with its native yeasts and the resulting wine undergoes an oak aging for around eight months, depending on the vintage. It is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

Domaine Ganevat has a long winemaking history, and is now run by the fourteenth generation; Jean-François and his sister Anne Ganevat, who were the ones to transition their vineyards, located in southern Jura, to organic and biodynamic cultivation.

Jean-François Ganevat is a leading figure in biodynamic viticulture. He began working with his father at the renowned Domaine Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet and in 1998 he returned to Jura to take over the family Domaine. Year after year he makes wines from 17 local varieties that grow on his around seven hectares. He produces an extraordinary amount of wines, perhaps over 40 different ones, and they are all exceptional.

At Domaine Ganevat no chemical products are used, fermentation takes place with native yeasts and the wine is made without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphur.

Jean-François Ganevat was named “Winegrower of the Year” by La Revue des Vins de France in 2018 and his influence on wine lovers is such that he even appears as a character in the well-known graphic novel “Les Ignorants” by Étienne Davodeau, a comic that addresses wine with interest and creativity.
