D.O.Ca. Rioja (La Rioja)
Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is a red wine from Rioja produced by El Coto de Rioja, a winery that was founded in 1970 by a group of individuals with standing and experience in the wine world.
The winery is located in Oyón (Álava). The climate in this area is moderate continental with a large Mediterranean and the Bay of Biscay influence, although the Sierra de Cantabria acts as a natural barrier and protects the vines from cold winds from the north. This wine is a varietal Tempranillo from own vineyards planted on different types of soil: clay-limestone, clay-ferrous and alluvial. As for processing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 21 or 30 days and then performed a maceration to obtain a balanced wine and fruit extract. Finally, Coto de Imaz Grand Reserve remains a minimum of 24 months in American and French oak barrels and 36 months in bottle.
To the palate, this is a complex wine with round and silky tannins. Persistent finish.
Ruby colour with russet highlights. Bright and clean.
The nose is presented as mature and elegant. There are notes of toasted coconut accompanied by aromas of leather, damp earth, red fruit and nuts.
