Château Simard is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Simard with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in the AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, in Bordeaux (France).

A vast estate owned by the Count of Simard in 1870, Château Simard was acquired by Claude Mazière in 1954 and when he died in 2008, his nephew Alain Vauthier took over, and he remains in charge today. He and his daughter have managed to obtain Saint-Emilion Grand Cru classification.

Château Simard comes from a Saint-Émilion estate with about 40 hectares of vines planted on top of a hill. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture, limiting yields to 40hl/ha. and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, once the best grapes have been selected to make Château Simard, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages for 12 months in 225-litre French oak barrels.

Rich, deep and full of fruit, Château Simard is a great wine to try if you are looking for a less expensive St-Émilion. A red that has become a representative of this Grand Cru.
