Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura is a red wine coupage made with Garnacha, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault from the AOC Côtes du Rhône made by Domaine du Pégau.
The Domaine du Pégau winery works to champion the traditional styles of Provence and the Rhone. It is considered one of the main producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They have 70 hectares spread over 11 different vineyards, which allows them to make a wide range of wines. The average age of their strains is about 40 years. The grapes are harvested when fully ripe, and vinified without adding commercial yeasts.
The soils in the Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura vineyards are mainly made up of loam and pebbles. The harvest is carried out manually to take the most care of the grapes and to ensure they reach the winery in tact, and to be able to carry out the first cluster selection in the vineyard.
In the winery, Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura ferments without adding commercial yeast to the must and in tanks without temperature control. The must macerates with the skins for about 10 days. A minimum amount of sulphur is added throughout the process.
Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura is a pleasant Rhone red that expresses ripe black fruit.
