Characteristics Calderona Crianza

Calderona Crianza is a red wine from Cigales, a wine production area located halfway between the provinces of Palencia and Valladolid, by the river Pisuerga. It is produced by the Frutos Villar winery, founded in 1960, which is one of the leading wineries in this region.

Viña Calderona Crianza is made with Tempranillo grapes (100%). A manual harvest occurs, with a traditional maceration and 100% stripping.

Later, this wine is placed in stainless steel tanks with daily pumping and fermentation at controlled temperature of 28-30 ° C for 15-20 days.

Before placing in barrels, it is uncovered and left to stand.

The wine is aged in American oak barrels (95%) and French oak (5%) barrels for at least 12 months, the wine is racked every 3 or 6 months. The development process ends when the wine is aged in bottle for about 6 months.

Now, Viña Calderona is ready to be sold.

Calderona Crianza 2011 is a mature red wine with structure and elegance. On the nose this vintage highlights the good balance between fruity aromas and the notes of aging. On the palate it is silky and rounded, with quite a lingering finish.
