Spring and wine. Seasonal trends

Spring has arrived and brought with it the desire to enjoy good pairings outdoors. Once the temperatures rise, the days are longer and nature comes back to life, everyone wants to be on a terrace and enjoying picnics and barbecues. What better way to spend the day than with great wines that were meant for the occasion. At Decántalo, we want to recommend five trends for this new season that you won't be able to say no to. The perfect wines to enjoy on the most awaited and joy-filled equinox of the year. Don’t miss out!

5 wines for this spring

Ausonia Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Apollo

Captivated by the natural beauty of Abruzzo, in northern Italy, pharmacist Simoni Binelli quit his job to dedicate himself fully to viticulture. Through this passion, he made Ausonia Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Apollo, a rosé that is a faithful witness to its terroir and vintage. A fresh, flavoursome and well-structured biodynamic wine that works well as both an aperitif and on the dinner table.

Skerk Malvasía

Sandi Skerk took over from her father in Friuli, northeast Italy, to make low-production, natural and traditional wines. Skerk Malvasía is a great example of this, an orange wine made with the Greek Malvasia variety that expresses itself honestly and elegantly. A fragrant, dry and fresh wine with a seductive savoury touch.

Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir

This wine’s creators, Alex Krause and John Locke, have four decades of experience making wines in France, California, Italy and beyond. So we can probably assume it will be well worth trying. Born in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California and made through minimal intervention, Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir is juicy, fresh and crisp. The perfect characteristics for welcoming the good weather.

Leirana Albariño 2019

Bearing in mind the 2012 vintage was rated the best wine in the Rías Baixas denomination by the New York Times, Leirana Albariño is a refreshing single-variety wine with well-marked acidity and a very pleasant mid-palate. Made by the illustrious winemaker Raúl Pérez, one of the leading voices in Spanish viticulture, this white wine will undoubtedly brighten up any moment.

Artuke 2019

Finally, what better way to celebrate the good weather than with a delicious red wine made through carbonic maceration, the typical, traditional method used in La Rioja which results in fresh, fruity and very aromatic wines. This is Artuke, a young wine made by the winery of the same name, which has managed to gloriously preserve this tradition in a small family project.
