Benoit Lahaye Blanc de Noirs is a biodynamic Extra Brut Champagne made by Benoit Lahaye with the Pinot Noir variety in Champagne.
The Benoit Lahaye winery is located in Bouzy, in the prestigious Grand Cru area of Reims Mountain (Champagne). It is a 5-hectare estate that has been owned by Valérie and Benoît Lahaye since 1993, a couple of winemakers who are committed to biological vine cultivation. All their work has been organic since 2003 and in biodynamic since 2010.
Benoit Lahaye Blanc de Noirs comes from vineyards located in the Bouzy Grand Cru. These strains are aged between 30 and 60 years old, planted in deep and calcareous soils and treated biodynamically. No machinery is used, with mechanical work replaced by animals. The harvest is also completely manual.
In the winery, the Benoit Lahaye Blanc de Noirs grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and age in 205-litre barrels. It then ages in the bottle for 24 months and the Champagne goes on sale with a dosage of 5 grams, which is the winemaker’s way of trying to achieve greater development over time.
Benoit Lahaye Blanc de Noirs is a powerful, intense and concentrated Champagne that perfectly shows how the Pinot Noir variety grows in this famous Reims Mountain area.
