Viúva Gomes Colares Tinto is a barrel-aged red wine made by the Viúva Gomes winery in the DOC Colares, in Lisbon (Portugal) with the native Ramisco variety.

Viúva Gomes is an old winery located in the Portuguese town of Almocageme (Sintra) that was acquired by the Baeta family in 1988 to age the wines that were made by the town’s cooperative. However, recently, José and his son Diogo have become more and more involved in the entire winemaking process and now grow their own grapes on 2.5 hectares of vineyards overlooking the Atlantic.

The Viúva Gomes Colares Tinto wine comes from non-grafted vines that are planted in the typical sandy soils of Colares, near the coast, northwest of Lisbon. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

In the winery, the Viúva Gomes Colares Tinto wine is a carefully preserved old and historical vintage. Following fermentation, this wine goes through a long aging process in exotic wooden barrels.
