Motor Callet 2024 takes us on an exhilarating journey through the Mediterranean. About Motor Callet

In 2006, Francesc Grimalt and Sergi Caballero established the winery 4 Kilos after embarking on this venture with four million pesetas (hence its name). Gradually, over time, they have become a benchmark for Mallorcan wines. From Felanitx, in the heart of the island of Mallorca, under the VT Mallorca designation, their range is extensive, but some wines stand out, such as Motor Callet.

The callet and fogoneu are the two varieties that imbue this red wine with its soul, resting in both clay vats and stainless steel tanks. These grapes, indigenous to the area, are cultivated in young vineyards thriving on the renowned Call Vermell soil, famous for its high iron oxide concentration. This, combined with the mild and warm Mediterranean climate with scant rainfall, allows for the maximum expression of both varieties. Absolutely crucial! They practice rational agriculture, with great respect for the environment, and minimal intervention. They employ native ground cover, with a rich microbiological population, aiming to maintain good biodiversity in the vineyard.

Under these conditions and with Francesc's vast expertise, the result is a wine with character and authenticity. Following manual harvesting with grape selection in the vineyard itself, Motor Callet ferments in vats (traditional brick and cement tanks in the area). Here, it rests for about 3 months, followed by an additional two months in stainless steel tanks. Quite a curiosity. Intriguing, to say the least...
