About M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits Blanc
"Fac et Spera", or in other words, "Do and Hope", is not merely an elegant Latin motto. It is the essence of the Chapoutier family's philosophy, a principle encapsulating their unwavering respect for nature and the patience they invest in every vineyard and grape cluster. This mantra is proudly displayed on their sober and elegant coat of arms, which not only represents their family history but also their commitment to biodynamic viticulture and respect for the terroir—values embodied in every bottle of Maison M. Chapoutier.
When discussing patience and respect for the land, M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits Blanc stands as a perfect example. This single-varietal marsanne originates from the oldest vines and the most select soils in the southern part of Saint Joseph, in Tournon, on poor and rocky granite terrains that compel the plant to struggle and deepen its roots.
The grapes are handpicked during a late harvest designed to achieve alcohol levels exceeding 12°C. Following complete destemming, a slow fermentation begins in small cement tanks, a process lasting over a month that allows the wine to develop its full complexity and character. The wine is aged on lees for 8-10 months, with delicate batonnages imparting texture and roundness.
Les Granits Blanc is a profound, elegant, and vibrant wine, reflecting not only the minerality of the granite soils of Saint Joseph but also the patience and vision of Chapoutier. As their motto suggests, first do your work... and then wait for the magic to unfold in the glass.

| 2021 | M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits Blanc 2021 unfolds a delicate array of aromas reminiscent of phosphorus and white fruits, such as apple and pear, refined with a hint of aniseed and subtle caramel notes. Upon tasting, it reveals a candid and vibrant character, with a pronounced saline sensation that adds freshness. The creaminess on the palate complements these flavours, making each sip a delightful discovery. The 2021 vintage was characterised by a balance between ripeness and acidity in the Rhône region, contributing to this wine being ideal for those seeking a perfect harmony between structure and freshness. |
