About Viñedos de Páganos Corner del Puntido

Just like a "corner" in football, a play crafted with precision and strategy, Corner del Puntido is a vinous masterpiece. The Eguren family, one of the most influential in the oenology of Rioja, has created this wine within their Viñedos de Páganos project with the same accuracy and care as a football team in pursuit of the perfect play. It originates from a unique vineyard, in the most special corner of their estate, El Puntido, where every step is designed to achieve something truly exceptional.

Corner del Puntido hails from the 3.5 hectares selected in the easternmost part of El Puntido, at an altitude of 600 metres. The cultivation of the tempranillo variety is conducted organically, environmentally friendly, without herbicides or systemic products, ensuring each vine grows in perfect harmony with the terroir. Minimal intervention and constant care create a wine that is, above all, a pure expression of its surroundings.

The winemaking process is equally meticulous. The pre-fermentation maceration in cold at 6ºC for six days and fermentation in small 20-hectolitre oak vats at 26ºC, with indigenous yeasts selected from the vineyard itself, impart a unique complexity. During fermentation, the wine is foot-trodden twice a day in the initial days and once a day thereafter. Maceration with the skins lasts 16 days, and the wine is finally aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months.

Just as a well-executed corner can change the course of a match, Viñedos de Páganos Corner del Puntido presents itself as a vinous gem, designed to dazzle the most discerning palates. A unique experience that celebrates the best of Rioja's terroir and the winemaking tradition of the Eguren family.
