About Pittacum Val de la Osa

Pittacum Val de la Osa is a red wine from DO. Bierzo produced by Bodegas Pittacum. The winery is situated in the town of Arganza (León) and was founded back in 1999.

The century old Mencía vineyards are planted on loamy soils, on slopes and high density and worked completely by hand. The harvest is carried out with small 12kg boxes.

The grapes pass through a selection table before being placed into a 20 hectolitre tank, where they ferment for 20 days at controlled temperatures, with light pump overs carried out for a light extraction. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels, although first year barrels rather than brand new to ensure that the wine retains a fruitier and lighter character.

The palate experiences a sophisticated and intricate profile, harmoniously balanced. It is rich, velvety, and vibrant. The finish is prolonged and gratifying.
