About Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas

Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas is an organic white wine crafted by Proyecto Zorzal using the viura variety in the DO Navarra (Spain).
 
Proyecto Zorzal was established in 1989 from the passion for wine that Antonio Sanz passed on to his three sons. The Sanz brothers aim to capture the fullest expression of their vineyards and showcase it in their wines from DO Navarra and DOCa Rioja. Now, alongside the esteemed Argentine winemaker Matías Michelini, they create a new line of single-parcel wines that perfectly interpret the historical landscape of Navarra.
 
Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas originates from a vineyard located in Paraje Alegas Altas, in the Navarra town of Cintruénigo. These are vines with an average age of 35 years, planted on clay and limestone soils at an altitude of nearly 500 metres above sea level. Organic farming is practised without the use of chemical products to achieve the utmost authenticity of the terroir, and the harvest is conducted manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. 
 
In the winery, the grapes of Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas are gently pressed, and the resulting must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aging on lees in 700-litre concrete eggs and 500-litre single-use oak barrels for over a year. 
 
Pequeñas Puertas Jirafas is the result of the collaboration between Viña Zorzal Wines and Matías Michelini. A single-parcel wine that opens the doors to the small yet significant productions of a unique vineyard in Navarra.
