In the case of Mathilde Chapoutier, 8th generation of the esteemed Rhône house, she understood this from the outset. While overseeing the international business development strategy of the Chapoutier group, she crafted her own line of wines to express her unique vision.

The Mathilde Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Sulphite-Free is a red wine crafted from the Grenache and Syrah varietals. These vines are planted in gravel and clay soils, benefiting from excellent drainage to ensure a steady supply of water throughout the grapevine's growth cycle. All viticultural practices are organic, with biodynamic treatments, and the harvest is conducted mechanically at the crack of dawn to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are meticulously selected and destemmed, then fermented in concrete tanks for 4 weeks with daily pump-overs. The wine is subsequently aged in cement tanks for 5 months. At no point in the vinification process are any sulphites added.

Under the sulphite-free label, Mathilde not only continues her family's vinicultural legacy in the Rhône but also forges her own distinct path. Mathilde Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Sulphite-Free is a bona fide AOC Côtes du Rhône yet possesses a singular personality.

On the palate, it is luscious, fruit-forward, and well-composed. This wine is simultaneously robust and vibrant, featuring prominent yet harmoniously melded tannins, culminating in a lingering, smoky finish.
