About Gulfi NeroMàccarj

Gulfi NeroMàccarj is an organic red wine made with the native Nero d'Avola variety by the Gulfi winery in the DOC Sicilia.

Gulfi was built between 2007 and 2011 in the beautiful surroundings of Chiaramonte (Sicily). This winery represents a dream come true where native grapes are grown and vinified, using natural processes from the terroir to the bottle. Through biodynamic and organic farming, they make wines that fully express the land they come from, without any distractions added during the winemaking process.

Gulfi NeroMàccarj comes from one of the most famous vineyards in the Val di Noto area, in southeast Sicily. 3 hectares lying at 30 metres above sea level in clay-calcareous soils. These vines are over 35 years old and have a limited planting density of 7,000 strains per hectare. No synthetic chemicals are used and the harvest is carried out manually.

Once the Gulfi NeroMàccarj grapes reach the winery, they are vinified with the must and the skins macerating for a long time. The wine is then decanted into 500 and 225 litre barrels, where it ages for about 24 months. Once it has aged, it is left to rest in the bottle for 2 more years.

Gulfi NeroMàccarj is a powerful organic red wine, made from one of the most recognised cru from the Pachino area in the Noto Valley.
2016

Gulfi NeroMàccarj 2016 is a robust red wine. The bouquet is complex, featuring aromas of dark fruit (plum, wild strawberries), mineral undertones, and a hint of spices. On the palate, it is vibrant, full-bodied, and rich in spicy flavors with well-integrated tannins.
2010 Gulfi NeroMàccarj 2010 is a concentrated red wine with a very rich aromatic expression of dark fruit and herbaceous touches. On the palate it is sweet and dense with a lively acidity.
