Priorat is a designation recognised for its highest quality, being the only denomination, alongside Rioja, to be classified as a qualified designation of origin. This label is only awarded when there is a legacy of excellence in producing quality wine for over 10 years behind the denomination.

The Priorat region is located in the south of Catalonia, in the province of Tarragona. Its geographical and climatic conditions make it unique, as it is a small mountainous area with steep slopes, where vineyards are situated on terraces, often inaccessible to machinery, necessitating manual labour. However, what truly distinguishes Priorat wines is the terroir from which they originate. The soils are of volcanic origin, rich in licorella, or red slate. This characteristic, combined with the mild and dry climate, results in wines that are dense and intense in appearance, aroma, and taste.

Winemaking in Priorat primarily focuses on red wines, accounting for 90% of production, with the main grape varieties being garnacha, cabernet sauvignon, cariñena, and syrah. Currently, the reputation of these reds has transcended borders, with many receiving outstanding ratings from industry experts, such as Parker.
